CELEBRATION OF THE 141st ANNIVERSARY OF THE CONSECRATION OF ECUADOR TO THE SACRED HEART OF JESUS AND 123rd ANNIVERSARY OF THE CONSECRATION TO THE IMMACULATE HEART OF MARYOn Sunday June 14th, the Catholic Church in Ecuador celebrated the 141st Anniversary of the country’s Consecration to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, being the first country in the world to perform such act and 123 years of the Consecration to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Hence, the Church invited the entire country to renew this consecration and to surrender fully to the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary. That is why the Missionary Oblates of the Parish of the Sacred Heart of Jesus prepared a procession through the historical city center starting at 10:00 a.m. Four allegorical floats representing the four regions of Ecuador were prepared and the Mission was in charge of the one that was carrying the original painting of the Consecration. Town bands, cheerleaders, dancers and the Symphonic Band of the Metropolitan District of Quito also participated.“It is a day of great joy because of this consecration of Ecuador to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. It is also a feast for the Basilica of the National Vow, which was built as a commemoration and remembrance of this great event”, explained Fathr Jose Fabian Camayo, rector of the Parish of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and spiritual guide of the Mission.
