John Rick Miller health update. June 14th, 2014.

It's been quite a struggle in these times. I have been bedridden most of this time over the last three months or so. I began having problems swallowing. So much so that it was deemed necessary to put in an esophageal stent to allow me to eat. Unfortunately right after the operation the pain was so intense it was nearly unbearable. I tried my best to fight it for two days but was put into the hospital in May for 12 days of intense pain therapy. By the grace of God the pain diminished by 75% but the stent had moved and was not right. All of this time I could not eat solid foods n began losing a lot of weight...over 50 pounds thus far. The doctors asked me to wait and see about the stent as it was too dangerous to remove it and so I did until this time but it is still not right. In that time the cancer had quickly progressed into the bones and muscles of my right arm, hand, shoulders and shoulder blade making it impossible to sleep because of the pain when I moved or tried to sleep. Again new pain medication was given for this but it only helps 60% so the pain continues as the cancer has spread now into my neck and I have to learn to write differently as I cannot hold a pen normally as I did nor close my right hand properly.The doctors have told me that the only hope of extended life from this point is a radical new drug that is on trial in a test environment. Fortunately or unfortunately I was admitted to this program this week and had my first treatment of the drug on Tuesday following an operation on Monday to insert a feeder line in my neck then thru to near the armpit. That was to take 30 minutes but took 1.5 hours and went wrong. Now I am suffering the side effects of this new drug as I am continually hip cupping without let up for the past four days. I still cannot eat solid food and I continue to lose weight.The doctors have said my condition has moved to an advanced stage as the walls of the esophagus continue to thicken and the tumors and lesions continue to grow.It is not looking good at this time and I really need your prayers please so that I can remain positively focused in giving all this suffering for the conversion of sinners and the purification of this Mission.Even though I can say I now know intimately the cross of the passion (to some degree) it is still a very blessed time in my life to experience the depth of love I feel for God and you.Please remember my family in your prayers...please.God bless you all.With LoveRick
