On Sunday June 19th, there was a procession and “romería” for the renewal of the Consecration of Ecuador to the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary, that went through the historic downtown of Quito: the Metropolitan Cathedral, the Government Palace, th Town Hall, the Archbishopric, and several important churches and convents in Quito. It was done praying the Holy Rosary for the intentions of the whole world and for peace in Ecuador.The procession lasted 4 hours and a huge number of people participated with deep devotion.Many youth groups from several schools as well as security groups marched singing songs in honor of the Sacred Hearts. 18 Bands of Peace from different schools in Quito participated. The image of the Sacred Heart of Jesus was mounted in a fire truck and guarded by the Army, the National Police and the Municipal Band. The Mission was in charge of the floral decorations for the cars that would carry the images of Jesus and Mary.
